About Acupuncture

Acupuncture originated over 2000 years ago in China and other far eastern countries where it still features in mainstream healthcare. It involves the insertion of fine single-use sterile needles into specific points on the body to regulate the flow of 'Qi' or the body's vital energy.

Acupuncture can be effective for a range of conditions and evidence-based clinical research into acupuncture treatment is constantly evolving. Acupuncture treatment affects people in different ways and people's reaction to the treatment can vary. It can be an effective therapy to help restore balance and promote physical and emotional harmony.

In conjunction with acupuncture treatment I also use other traditional chinese therapies including moxibustion, cupping and gua sha.
